Running back Isaiah Pead is in critical condition after a serious car accident early Saturday morning, according to reports.
According to NBC4 in Columbus, Ohio, Pead lost control of his vehicle and drove through a guardrail. The vehicle struck several trees as it traveled down an embankment and Pead was ejected from the vehicle.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Pead underwent surgery for his injuries and was still in critical condition several hours after the accident.
Pead was a second-round pick of the St. Louis Rams in the 2012 NFL Draft and played in 27 games for the team. He had a brief stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015, although he never appeared in a game, and signed with the Miami Dolphins in the offseason but was released in October.
