Michelle Obama has had a lot of pop culture firsts as first lady.
She’s appeared as a guest on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke segment, made numerous appearances on late night shows, comedy sketches and even TV sitcoms. So it should be no surprise that the first lady would adorn the cover of Variety‘s September issue as a leading and influential pop culture figure.
“(Michelle Obama) graces the cover of Variety (Tuesday),” Variety Editor-in-Chief Claudia Eller said in a sneak peek of the cover Monday. “She’s brilliant, witty, personable and a pop culture icon.”
The Variety cover story and magazine will be out Tuesday.
