Minecraft for Windows 10 Coming to Oculus Rift in the ‘Next Few Weeks’

Minecraft for Windows 10 is adding support for the Oculus Rift VR headset in the “next few weeks.”

Think of it as a “thank-you for your continued support over the past year,” Minecraft Executive Producer Jesse Merriam wrote in a blog post.

Those who own Minecraft Windows 10 Edition and an Oculus Rift will be able to jump right into the game; just log into your Mojang account and click the redeem button for free access.

“And, if playing around with VR Minecraft sounds excellent … and you haven’t upgraded your PC to Windows 10 yet, don’t worry—there’s still time,” Merriam said. Not much, though: Redmond’s free upgrade offer ends today.

Minecraft maker Mojang confirmed the news in a Thursday blog post, promising players “a whole new perspective on their favorite game.”

A VR version is already available to Samsung Gear VR owners. And the Rift version promises familiar features like multiplayer, Creative, and Survival gameplay modes.
