After initially endorsing Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) for president, Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson has recently declared that he is now endorsing the presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump in his bid for the White House.
Robertson — a devout Christian and patriarch of the long-running popular Duck Dynasty television program — made the announcement to back the billionaire candidate after Trump won his 30th state last week, when he celebrated landslide victories in West Virginia and Nebraska primaries with his opponents out.
The Christian celebrity’s endorsement of Cruz — who he touted as a “strict constitutionalist” and as a strong believer in the Bible and Christian values, according to ChristianToday.com — ended shortly after the Texas senator threw in the towel in response to a devastating loss at the beginning of the month in the Indiana primary.
Like son, like father …
Once Robertson’s son, Willie, made the decision to support Trump, his father was quick to eagerly follow suit by endorsing the often controversial frontrunning GOP candidate.
“Trump’s in,” the older Robertson said. “So I’ll vote for him — no question.”
Robertson sees Trump’s nomination as in the bag, and anxiously awaits the conclusion of the California primary scheduled for June 7, when the conservative presidential hopeful is expected to pick up enough delegates from America’s most delegate-rich state to officially have enough to be the Republican nominee.
