Dr. Bobby E. Mills on the Blue Collar versus White Collar Mentality

Paradoxically, American society is structured upon a hierarchical, socio-economic-class system: Upper-class, middle-class, working-class, and the poor. Although, all Americans are socialized into the universal values of God, family, and country; each social class has a distinct “particularistic” value-orientation associated with it based upon economic status. In fact, certain occupational positions in American society invariably require that individuals possess a particularistic mind-set based upon social class value distinctions. The art of leadership effectiveness is to understand what makes a leader, a leader. Jesus was an effective leader, because he was a positive example of his own teachings. To be sure, individuals can only cut the art of the deal with the devil, not God, because God is not a deal-maker.  God did not create blue-collar, white-collar, racial-color-distinctions, or any other social-class-distinctions. “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” (Past, Present, and Future) (Hebrews 13:8). Listen America, and take heed: “The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.” (Psalms 68:11).

All Christians know: “When he speaketh fair, believe him not, for there are seven abominations in his heart.” (Proverbs 26: 25). This scripture is referencing the seven deadly sins. And, by the way, any individual that would declare that he has nothing to apologize to God for has a dangerous paradigm mindset. Americans, watch him, because there are no perfect individuals on planet earth. “For as he thinketh in his heart so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7). Without a doubt, only God is perfect. Abraham Lincoln said it best: “you can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you can’t fool all the people all the time”.

Christian believers know that alarm clocks do not wake-up individuals; unless God wakes them up. Therefore, let’s not take it for granted, when we get up; only God wakes us up, and don’t forget it. If any individual believes that an alarm clock can wake-up an individual, then take one to the graveyard, and see how many individuals get up. And, we know, that everyone who says, “Lord, Lord” does not necessarily have God consciousness. Usually individuals who have this type of mindset are moving fast, but going nowhere.

The 2008 election of President Barack Obama and his subsequent reelection in 2012 revealed that the racial/ethnic divide in American society was beyond the “symbolic” dimension of “mere” physical-skin-color. In fact, racism is a culturally institutionalized “religious” mind-set cultivated in the misguided notion of “White Privilege”. The White House is called the White House, and painted white, not just for “mere” symbolism, but for socio-economic-reality-conditions. For after all, symbols motivate social behavior. Above all, God-fearing individuals know that an authoritarian personality should not be in the White House. Presently, we are in the midst of the 2016 presidential election, and a lion is roaring in the streets of American society, seeking whom he can devour, and creating artificial social class and ethnic/racial divisions based upon dangerous false notions of “White male privilege”. Prior to 1964 (Civil Rights Act) and 1965 (Voting Rights Act) American society experienced the White Citizen Council, that is, White southern business men dressed in business attire possessing a Ku Klux Klan (KKK) mentality. Unfortunately, the more things change the more they remain the same. However, God is not fooled. Individuals reap what they sow, because God is no respecter of artificially contrived social class distinctions. “Be not deceived: God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Galatians 6:5).

What is intellectually perplexing about the 2016 presidential election is that regional differences seemingly no longer matter. There is no North, South, East or West. The blue collar mentality and white collar mentality now transcend perceived social class value distinctions, as well as, geographical regions. In New York State, the supposedly most cosmopolitan State in the United States where the melting-pot-city of the world community is located (New York City), now displays cultural confusion. In fact, in New York State, we are witnessing the coming together at the fork of the road of blue collar and white collar mentalities in order to protect “White male privilege”.

Question: Whatever happened to “One nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all”? It is apparent that White socio-spiritual frustration with lack of economic opportunities (JOBS), Washington-style political governance gridlock, a vanity-oriented national environment, and the permanent-tanning of the nation toward minority-majority-status is ripping off the false-covering on “White male privilege”. Consequently, shifting White women into minority group status has proven to be a losing “cultural” proposition.  In a socially fractured society of “White male privilege”, this is proving to be the undoing of White male arbitrariness. Simply because White women; even though they are White, they are treated similar to minority status individuals. Consequently, White women feel like a minority; even though they play a major role in the voting population. Again, “For as he thinketh in his heart so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7).

The Republican Party has totally abandoned the “spiritually-unifying-principles” of Abraham Lincoln. It is apparent to casual observers that the Republican Party needs a “mental-enema”, that is, a spiritual-mental cleansing, because inclusion is more productive than exclusion. When the “Grand Ole” Political Party, in the greatest “democratic” nation in the world, desires to place an authoritarian “blue-collar-mentality” in the White House something has drastically gone-a-rye. Look-out America, national disaster is knocking on your door. It seems as though the Republican Party with its unholy alliance with the ole Southern-Dixie-Crat Party has been marching toward this disastrous end. False “demagogue” leaders are saying the same ole thing, over and over again. What they used to speak in coded language form now is spoken loud and boldly. In fact, they encourage other individuals to believe that it is alright to now say “whatever”, in a straight forward offensive manner to whomever, and whenever they feel the urge to offend others. In fact, they believe that they will be rewarded for offending whomever, and whenever they so desire (I’ll pay your court costs and fines). It has even become fashionable to use the phrase “whatever floats your boat”. In conclusion: “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” (1 Corinthians 15:33). Selah!!!
