As the young singer touches hearts with her gospel music, her heart has been broken behind the scenes
Stellar Award-winning gospel artist Kierra Sheard has triumphed publicly in her career while struggling privately in her relationships.
Now the 28-year-old is getting real about a deeply personal hurt she went through at the hands of an ex-boyfriend.
“Went to the store today and spotted him with another woman in the store,” begins a personal disclosure in the form of a blog post, titled, “Dear Him and Growing Me.”
“It stung a little,” she continued. “I wanted to cry but I didn’t. It’s almost like I’ve become immune to disappointment.”
According to the CEO of Eleven60, a full-figured women’s clothing line, the painful experience that occurred while she was “still learning” who she was, became a turning point in her life.
After that shocking encounter, Sheard wrote, “It’s time to release all toxic relationships, or people who no longer compliment my purpose in life. If there is absolutely no characteristic of heaven in my relationships, I no longer want the hell that comes with it.”
Subsequently, the vocalist, who just released her new LED EP Nov. 20, said she made a vow to “even build a better relationship with myself.”
The process of keeping that vow has been a struggle for the daughter of Grammy-winning mother Karen Clark-Sheard of the legendary Clark Sisters, due, in part, to her infatuation with the wrong kind of men.
In August, the “Flaws” singer, who previously confessed her attraction to thugs and rugged “hood dudes,” wrote on Instagram, “As a Christian single woman dating, I’ve been hurt and not wise on my dating journey.”
