Bill Cosby doesn’t have that many public defenders, but with defenders like Damon Wayans, Cosby might not need any more enemies.
Comedian/actor/writer Wayans appeared on a New York radio show, Power 105’s The Breakfast Club, on Friday and was asked what advice he would give Cosby, whose previously sterling reputation has been destroyed in the last year by allegations from more than 50 women that he drugged and raped them in episodes dating back to the 1960s.
“Tell the truth,” Wayans responded immediately. Then he went off on Cosby’s accusers, most of whom he doesn’t believe and some of whom he dismissed as “un-rape-able.”
Cosby has denied all wrongdoing and has not been charged with a crime.
“I don’t believe he was raping,” Wayans told the radio hosts, Angela Yee, DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God.
Wayans’ defense of Cosby was sort of mixed but he offered a theory for why so many women are coming forward to accuse Cosby of sexual assault decades later: Cosby got to be too old for sex (he’s 78), told these women goodbye, and they retaliated.
“Bye, b——. And they’re like, oh, really? Rape,” Wayans said. “Some of them, it’s un-rape-able. I look at them, (I think) no, you don’t want that. Get outta here, get up and get outta here.”
If his daughter had accused Cosby, he said, “I would have killed Bill Cosby. But just looking at it, I just don’t believe it, I think it’s a money hustle.”
