The man who shot video of Eric Garner’s chokehold death nearly a year ago was arrested again — this time accused of selling drugs to an undercover cop.
Ramsey Orta, 23, was busted Tuesday night at the Baruch Houses on the Lower East Side, police said. He was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance. Orta has been busted at least 29 times. He’s facing charges in three other pending cases, including two felonies. A GoFundMe.com page started to cover his mounting legal fees has raised more than $55,000.
He was busted in February for allegedly selling drugs to an undercover cop and faces gun charges from August. He has repeatedly claimed harassment by police since Garner’s death on July 17.
Orta’s bail was set at $15,000 bond or $7,500 cash at his arraignment on Wednesday.
He used a cell phone to record the Staten Island encounter with cops that left Garner dead of a police chokehold. Cops were investigating the sale of untaxed cigarettes.
