A Davidson County Sheriff’s deputy is facing charges of aggravated assault, burglary and vandalism after allegedly confronting his estranged wife and her boyfriend over the weekend, the Tennessean reports.

The altercation took place early Saturday morning while 38-year-old Donald Dixon was armed and on duty, the news site notes. Dixon allegedly barged into his estranged wife’s home, confronting her and her boyfriend, reportedly placing his hand on his gun at one point.

Dixon and the boyfriend fought before the boyfriend left. Dixon then reportedly grabbed his wife by the throat as they continued to fight, the Tennessean reports.

He has since been put on administrative leave, after being booked into jail on Saturday morning before being released on a $10,000 bond after he served the mandatory 12-hour “cooling off” period, the news site reports.
