Let’s take a quick look at today’s prophecy-related headlines which point towards the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and the end of the world as we know it.

First, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMORS OF WARS — According to Reuters, war against Islamic State militants in Syria and Iraq threatened to spill into Turkey on Tuesday, where reports emerged that the air force had bombed Kurdish fighters furious at Ankara’s refusal to help protect their kin in Syria. At least 35 people were killed in riots last week when members of Turkey’s 15-million-strong Kurdish minority rose up in anger at the government for refusing to help defend the Syrian border town of Kobani from an Islamic State assault. Turkish warplanes hit Kurdish targets inside Turkey on Sunday, the first such strikes since a peace process began in Turkey two years ago.

Second, today, under the Sign category of DISTRESS AMONG NATIONS — According to the BBC, Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered thousands of troops stationed near the Ukrainian border to return to their bases. Mr Putin’s spokesman said about 17,600 soldiers on training exercises in the Rostov region would be pulled back. Russia has previously announced troop withdrawals that Nato and the US say were not actually carried out.

Third, today, under the Sign category of DISTRESS AMONG NATIONS — According to Reuters, London mayor Boris Johnson said Great Britain’s security services are monitoring thousands of terrorism suspects in the city and are involved in operations on a daily basis. Johnson said, “In London we’re very, very vigilant and very, very concerned.” Britain recently raised its international threat level to the second-highest classification of “severe”, meaning an attack was considered highly likely. About 500 Britons are believed to have joined the fighting in the region and authorities have long argued that radicalised, battle-hardened veterans would pose a grave threat on their return.

Fourth, today, under the Sign category of DISEASES & EPIDEMICS — According to The Guardian, despite several claims from officials that the Ebola pandemic is contained, there are more and more reports of possible or confirmed infections. Several nations have revealed that they are dealing with Ebola-symptomatic cases or that they are bringing infected patients back from Africa for treatment. New reports of possible infections have come from Australia, Turkey, Brazil, Spain, and France. Health officials in Germany also confirmed that a third infected patient recently arrived in their country.

Fifth, today, under the Sign category of THE TURMOIL IN ISRAEL & THE MIDDLE EAST — According to The Jerusalem Post, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi called for a revival of the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative at a Cairo donor conference which raised $5.4 billion for Gaza and featured world leaders who urged an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Sisi said, “We should turn this moment into a real starting point to achieve a peace that secures stability and flourishing and renders the dream of coexistence a reality.” The 2002 initiative offers Israel full recognition by the Arab world, if it withdraws to the pre-1967 lines and agrees to a “just solution” for Palestinian refugees.

The prophetic passage of Scripture we are looking at today is Genesis 3:15 which reads: “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”

Allow me to share with you some commentary on this passage from the Popular Bible Prophecy Commentary, edited by Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson.

Genesis 3:15 foresees a coming Messiah born of a woman, who will defeat Satan. This earliest and foundational messianic prophecy is found a mere three chapters into the Bible. Following the moral failure of Adam and Eve and in conjunction with the explanation of the harsh and enduring consequences wrought by their disobedience, this proto-evangelium (“first gospel”) provides hope for the redemption of the fallen human race. It proclaims the coming of a Savior who will enter the human race and defeat the power of Satan.

If the Lord tarries His coming and we live, we will continue looking at this prophecy in our next broadcast / podcast.

Our second coming quote for today is this: “Believers should not worry about when Christ is coming, but should encourage one another because they are certain He is coming.”

If you are not ready for the return of Jesus Christ, may I encourage you to get ready today by receiving Him as your Savior. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.
