Adrian Peterson, the All-Pro running back for the Minnesota Vikings, sent a message to the franchise’s front office: make a run at free agent quarterback Michael Vick.

The 33-year-old Vick lost his job with the Philadelphia Eagles to Nick Foles and is now looking for a new team. Vick started six games for the Eagles last year, and threw for 1,215 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions. He also ran for 306 yards with two rushing scores.

Other options for Vick’s services could be the New York Jets, the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Oakland Raiders and others.

The Vikings, perhaps more than any other franchise in the NFL last season, suffered through quarterback woes last season that saw them start three different players at the position — Christian Ponder, Josh Freeman and Matt Cassel. Neither of them appear to be a long-term solution at the position.

Cassel and Freeman are also free agents.

Would adding Vick transform the Vikings into a playoff team?
