It sounds like we’ve got at least 16 more months months of “will-Joe-Biden-run-for-president” stories.
The vice president told CNN he’ll likely decide in the summer of 2015 whether to seek the presidency again in 2016.
Biden, who made unsuccessful bids in 1988 and 2008, sure sounds like he wants another campaign.
“There may be reasons I don’t run — but there’s no obvious reason for me why I think I should not run,” Biden said during an interview broadcast on CNN’s New Day.
Biden said he would make a final decision “realistically, a year this summer.”
Democrats are also waiting on an announcement from another prospective candidate: Hillary Rodham Clinton, the former first lady and President Obama’s secretary of state.
“Vice President Joe Biden joked this week that being able to drive his Corvette is one good reason not to run. But, when asked to give another good reason not to run, Biden responded simply: ‘I can’t.'”
Biden also told CNN: “For me, the decision to run or not run is going to be determined by me, as to whether I am the best qualified person to focus on the two things I’ve spent my whole life on: Giving ordinary people a fighting chance to make it, and a sound foreign policy that’s based on rational interests of the United States.”
