While DeSean Jackson was down in Miami, someone hit an illicit jackpot burglarizing his South Philly house.
It’s not clear how much was taken from the Eagles’ star wideout, but he’s offering a $50,000 reward to anyone who can help solve the crime by tipping off police.
Investigators said Saturday that Jackson’s mother had discovered Friday night that his home on Pietro Way near Hartranft Street had been burglarized. Investigators believe the burglary happened earlier in the week, with a 9 mm handgun, more than $250,000 in cash and jewelry reported missing.
Initial reports said $400,000 worth of items were taken, but Jackson issued a statement yesterday disputing the amount of cash that was missing, saying there was a “small amount of money taken.”
“DeSean is clearly upset that his home was burglarized while he was out of town on vacation. He has always felt very safe in his community, and it concerns him someone would victimize his place of residence,” said Denise White, a publicist for Jackson. “He had personal items, jewelry and a small amount of money taken in the burglary, however the amount that has been previously reported is inaccurate.”
There were no signs of forced entry at the house, which is about a mile from team’s practice facility. According to an initial report by Fox 29, Jackson’s mother discovered one safe missing from the home and two others cracked open.
Philadelphia police declined to comment on any other further details about the investigation yesterday.
