Christian Small Publisher Book of the Year Award Accepting Nominations

cspa.jpgNominations for the Christian Small Publisher Book of the Year Award are being accepted this year in eight categories - four more than previous years.

The Christian Small Publishers Association (CSPA), the sponsor of the annual book award, is inviting small publishers to nominate English-language books published in 2008 or 2009 that are Christian in nature and intended for the U.S. Christian marketplace.

After all nominations are received by Nov. 15, CSPA will invite Christian retailers and book readers to vote on the nominated titles in February and March 2010.

The winners of the award will be the books that receive the most votes.

As the only award designed exclusively to bring attention to Christian titles from small publishers, the Christian Small Publisher Book of the Year Award recognizes quality Christian books for their "outstanding contribution" to Christian life.

Since it was established by CSPA in 2007, the award program has recognized books in only four categories - Nonfiction (Biography), Nonfiction (General), Fiction, and Children's.

This year's categories, however, include: Fiction, Biography, Christian Living, Relationships/Family, Bible Study/Theology, Children's Book 4-8 years, Children's Book 8-12 years, and Young Adult (12+ years).

To qualify as a small publisher, annual revenues must be less than $350,000.

Currently, CSPA has over 70 member publishers producing materials for the Christian marketplace and is a supplier member of the Association for Christian Retail (CBA), formerly called the Christian Booksellers Association.
