Melvin L. Saulsberry, 50, and his wife, Delores, 48, were arguing Sunday morning in their home in the 2200 block of Northwest 47th Terrace, said Capt. Rick Rocco, a police spokesman.

The two have a history of bickering, but this time, police said, Saulsberry grabbed a knife and stabbed his wife in the neck. Lauderhill Fire Rescue found her dead about 8 a.m., Rocco said.

The couple's 19-year-old daughter, whose name was not released, was in the house when the confrontation began. She escaped with her small child and then called 911 from a neighbor's home. The daughter suffered an injury to her hand, probably from defending her mother, police said. She underwent surgery Sunday morning at Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Rocco said.

Her condition was not immediately available.

Police said Saulsberry had military training and might be armed.

In 1999, records show, Saulsberry started a home-based ministry called Boxing for Jesus Inc. He signed documents as "Minister M.L. Saulsberry II.''

None of the individuals listed as members of the ministry's board could be reached for comments Sunday.

The nonprofit organization dissolved in 2004, one year before records show that Delores took Melvin to court on domestic-violence charges. There were at least three cases after that, all of which were dismissed.

In 2005, Melvin was convicted of first-degree arson. This year, he pleaded guilty to a felony cocaine-possession charge.

After Sunday's attack, Melvin Saulsberry left the house in a white 2000 Dodge Intrepid, license plate number V12 2GU. The car is described as having one tinted window and ''older front end damage to the right front [of the car],'' according to a Lauderhill police news release.

Police asked anyone who sees Saulsberry to call 911.

It never ceases to amaze me what some people will follow in the name of following a new concept or ministry in Christ name. BOXING FOR JESUS snould have been an automatic give away that this was not sound doctrine!
