Cedarville Christian University Claims Bias by Education Group

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

A Baptist university in Ohio says an education group's criticism of the school reflects the group's anti-religious bias.

Cedarville University was censured by the American Association of University Professors for firing a tenured faculty member. The group says the employee, who's suing the university, wasn't given due process.

In an e-mailed statement, Cedarville spokesman John Davis responds that the association has historically demonstrated bias against religious schools and the censuring is consistent with that.

The association scoffs at the school's claim, noting that one of its investigators in the Cedarville case is a professor at Calvin College, a Christian school in Michigan.

Davis says Cedarville is guided by "biblical principles -- not an external body like the AAUP."
