eHarmony Launches Homosexual Dating Site (Shame on You, eHarmony!)

neil-clark-warren.2.jpgIn response to discrimination litigation, online dating site eHarmony will launch Tuesday the gay version of its heterosexual match-making service.

The site, Compatible Partners, was developed as part of a settlement last fall with the New Jersey attorney general. A gay user filed a complaint against eHarmony in 2005, citing the state's discrimination law.

Compatible Partners mirrors the features of its sister site, beginning with the same extensive relationship-preferences questionnaire for which eHarmony is known. There are just a few minor modifications between the two 34-page documents. For example, an eHarmony question reads, "I greatly appreciate the physical beauty of the opposite sex." The Compatible Partners version reads, "I greatly appreciate physical attractiveness when looking at people." The company changed so little in the surveys that it put a disclosure on the Compatible Partners home page. The notice says the site was developed "on the basis of research involving married heterosexual couples." It adds: "The company has not conducted similar research on same-sex relationships."

Patrick Perrine, founder and CEO of myPartner.com, an online dating site for gay men, remains skeptical about eHarmony's new venture. Mr. Perrine says the compatibility system on his site, matching men with other men, wouldn't work for other pairings, such as lesbian women. "They're very different populations that have very different needs," he said.

EHarmony was founded in 2000 by Neil Clark Warren, an evangelical Christian and former clinical psychologist. Dr. Warren is no longer active in the daily management but remains the company's chairman. When asked if the company's religious roots would deter homosexuals from the site, eHarmony CEO Greg Waldorf said, "Our mission is to help our users find great long-term relationships," adding, "We started in the opposite-sex market, which is where all of our experience was. That doesn't mean we were against something."

Last month, eHarmony was the sixth-most-visited online personals site, with roughly 2.3 million unique visitors, according to comScore. SinglesNet.com, which includes same-sex couples, was the leader in the category with almost 3.7 million unique visitors.

A shame and a disgrace. I was once a subcriber to e-Harmony, but have since cancelled my subscription because of this. Unforutnately, Dr. Warren has sold his soul to the devil, for what does it profit a man to gain the world and loose his soul. He could have fought this just like the Boy Scouts of America did in their case. remember when Dr. Warren was on Focus on the Family years ago promoting e-Harmony. How quickly the righteous have fallen in this situation. We are truly living in the last days.

It is a shame that this company had to be forced into having a website for people that can never get truly married regardless of what state offer same sex marriages. The Neil Clark Warren has enough money to live on. He should have said to the state, pardon my madness and I will use the words in the proper context, ‘to hell with this lifestyle that is hell bound. I will not sell my soul for a few extra dollars.’ But it appears that the love of money is once again greater than a person’s faith in God. You are right; he sold his soul and slapped God in the face. These people that practice this evil lifestyle are only out there for a joy ride and prostitution. Sexual intercourse is between a man and a woman. The rectum is use to discharge poisonous waste, not to have foreign objects inserted into it. God wants humans to love each other whether it is male of female, but he doesn’t condone sexual activities between the same sexes.

I am saddened that Dr.Warren didn't fight this on general principals. I understood this to be a site for people seeking marriage and holding to basic Christian values. I am also going to cancel my participation. When will we stand up for the values we say we hold even in the face of opposition and litgious activities? I do not hate those in such lifestyles, but hold to what the scriptures teach. I further hold that a double minded man is unstable in all his ways...

oh common, its all for the money and you know it

I wonder if Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the family knows whats happening with this company ? If not he will when I get through.

Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it [is] abomination.

Lev 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them.

Why can't people see that God our created has made the laws for the people to obey them and if God said homosexuals is wrong what is the problem. You cannot win by disobeying God, the only ones that when are those that keep Gods commandement that is the bottom line. And if you do'nt keep his commandments then hell awaits those that rejects Jesus and God's laws.

simple explanation

I guess everybody needs help with relationships and gays are no different but I see many christian male female eHarmony couples dropping off the web site. It's just not good business for the folks who are Christians. They are not going to like it at all. I guess it's all about making money! Not so much about getting people together...I wonder what those commercials are going to look like on TV. I can just see that service announcement now. Two cleancut homos holding hands professing their love for each other and how they found each other on Gay eHarmony Please....LOL

Let me add this is just wrong and to the gentleman who made the comment about Dr. Dobson he was on to Dr. Neil Warren long ago and so was I for that matter. This man is no longer a Dr. and became a whore of the devil. He is in the business for the money. He charges way too much and this matching scheme of his is poppy cock. He ran a service to try to help couples and one has to wonder if he was truly successful. This is just my opinion but eHarmony has many people who come from broken marriages, and carry baggage. Even if they are compatible in the begging how long are they going to stay that way. A person needs to be happy with them selves and be stable in ones heart before they are ready for meeting another person 29 dimensions or not. I'd rather meet someone in person the way God meant us to meet. Internet dating bah humbug! The Gays won't do any better and Warren should have fought this but his integrity is weak and he didn't have any to begin with. He's been taking advantage of all the broken couples for a long time. eHarmony is EVIL!

Very nice post. Do you accept guest writers?

You all should mind your own business! Focus on your own Christianity and let others pursue their lives as they see fit.

The true transgression against God is those of you who use His word for petty, wordly political squabbling. There are higher, better questions for you to be asking, rather than talking about what people put in their rectums (to quote the gentleman above). This is a repulsive discussion, and confirms my belief that those who denounce homosexuality loudest are perversely fascinated by it.
