Thur, Sept 21, 2017: Trump meets with Japan’s Abe, agrees to visit country before year’s end

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said he and U.S. President Donald Trump agreed Thursday in New York to accelerate arrangements for Trump to make his first official visit to Japan before the end of the year.

Sources close to the matter have said the governments are planning a visit in November.

“I have been holding several telephone meetings with President Trump at appropriate times, but by having him visit Japan, I want to make Japan-U.S. relations even more solid and deepen our bonds,” Abe told reporters after a roughly hourlong meeting with Trump on the margins of the U.N. General Assembly.

Trump will then participate in a photo opportunity with European leaders.

Later in the morning, the president will give remarks at Three Seas Initiative Summit.

Trump will then participate in the Transatlantic Roundtable.

In the afternoon, Trump will participate in a bilateral meeting with President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic of Croatia.

The president will then give remarks to the people of Poland.

Following his remarks, he leaves Poland for Hamburg, Germany.

He will then participate in an expanded meeting with Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany.

In the evening, the president will attend the Northeast Asia Security Dinner with President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan.

Sat, Feb. 11, 2017: Trump, Abe hold brief press conference condemning N. Korea missile launch

President Donald Trump on Saturday night confronted his first international test after North Korea launched a ballistic missile, saying in a hastily organized press conference from his Mar-a-Lago resort that the United States “stands behind Japan, its great ally, 100 percent.”

His brief remarks came at a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who has been spending the weekend with Trump in Florida.

At the three-minute-long press conference, where neither of the world leaders took questions, Abe decried the launch “as absolutely intolerable.”

President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe hit the links on Saturday, as the two leaders looked to forge a bond over a round of golf diplomacy.

Trump and Abe played under mostly clear skies at Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida. The White House did not immediately say whether anyone else joined them and reporters were not allowed on the course to watch the pair. Fri, Feb. 10, 2017: Trump dines with Japan’s PM, first ladies, Patriot’s owner at Mar-a-Lago

After a friendly meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the White House on Friday, President Trump along with First Lady Melania Trump, Abe, and Japanese First Lady Akie Abe flew to Florida to spend the weekend together at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. The two couples were joined by New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft for dinner.

President Donald Trump welcomed Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe with a brotherly hug and warm words of admiration Friday, as he ditched previously hard-charging rhetoric towards Tokyo during a White House summit.

Trump praised his guest’s “strong hands,” the pair’s “very, very good chemistry” and rolled out a White House military honor guard in a remarkable public display of diplomatic affection.

“When I greeted him today at the car,” Trump said after an Oval Office meeting, “I shook hands, but I grabbed him and hugged him because that’s the way we feel.”
