With the Right Environment, Every Acorn Grows Into an Oak

Inspiration: “Then He said, ‘What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and put in his garden; and it grew and became a large tree, and the birds of the air nested in its branches.’” ~ Luke 13:18-19, New King James Version

Insight: Every acorn has within itself an oak tree that will provide the surety of shade, shelter, sustenance, and security once it has been safely planted in fertile soil. The potential of the acorn resides in its seed which will only be nourished and nurtured in the proper environment. When the acorn seed establishes its root system in the earth, the potential of the oak tree will be released to become what it was meant to become even though atmospheric conditions may not always be ideal.

Like the acorn, we each possess potential that is in alignment with our original purpose which is God’s predestined intent for our lives. We must ensure that we are rooted and grounded in the proper environment by nurturing our relationship with God, reading and applying biblical principles to our lives, and using our gifts and talents for God in our service to Him and those we are called to reach. When we focus on maintaining the root system of our faith, we will continue to enjoy the benefits of continued growth and expanded opportunities to give the best of who we are and what we possess to serve a greater purpose for the sake of God’s kingdom.

Prayer to Ignite Action: Dear Lord, I recognize that the life You have given me on this earth is akin to a seed that is planted in the ground. My desire is to be nurtured, instructed, and even corrected as I continue to grow through the pruning process that is necessary for my maturity. I thank You that I am planted in the fertile soil of a good church that teaches Your Word without compromise to strengthen my foundation. As I grow, I will share what I have learned and mastered with others in my circle of influence to expand Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
