Pastor Erwin McManus Celebrates His Friendships With Usher and Tomi Adeyemi at Mosaic Church

Pastor Erwin McManus has been celebrating the friendships he’s made at Mosaic Church — old and new — and wrote earlier this week about R&B singer Usher Raymond who’s a member.

“This week I’ve been highlighting some of the beautiful people that have come into my life at Mosaic,” McManus, pastor of Mosaic Church in Los Angeles, California, wrote on Instagram Sunday to his 79,000 followers.

While he’s normally “pretty private” about the relationships he’s developed with Hollywood celebrities, McManus said he couldn’t resist the opportunity to talk about Usher.

“Our tribe has so many amazing people and I am so honored and privileged to get to know a few of them,” he said. “This week I’m just celebrating friends. This is Usher and he is one of the kindest people I have ever met.

This week I’ve been highlighting some of the beautiful people that have come into my life at Mosaic. I’ve always been pretty private about these things but I want to celebrate how the church is touching a city like Los Angeles and even more specifically Hollywood. Our tribe has so many amazing people and i am so honored and privileged to get to know a few of them. This week I’m just celebrating friends. This is Usher and he is one of the kindest people I have ever met. Every once in a while you meet someone and you sense a deep connection of your souls. We were brothers from the start. It was easy because of the journey he is on and the tenderness of his heart. Rarely have i shared a meal with someone and they tell me their only agenda is to get to know me. Thank you for wanting to know me as a person and not as a personality. Thanks for all the times you waited patiently to hang. Thanks for introducing me to Sting! We love your boys. You owe me breakfast. I love our church. I love our tribe. I love @mosaic. #lovebuiltthis @usher

This is Tomi Adeyemi and she is what the future looks like. This brilliant and beautiful young woman is only 24 years old and is already a powerhouse. She connected to Mosaic when her boyfriend who was an atheist came to believe in the God who loves him and opened his heart and life to Jesus. Then this kind, gracious, and humble, Harvard grad wrote a book called Children of Blood And Bone and she exploded onto the literary scene as the next J.K. Rowling. She was featured on Jimmy Fallon as his pick for the summer reads. Her first book is the first in a series and is already being made into a feature film here in Hollywood. She lives all the way in San Diego but we know she is family here at Mosaic. Tomi we are so proud of you. Keep breaking new ground. I love our tribe. @tadeyemibooks @mosaic #lovebuiltthis #childrenofbloodandbone
