Apple will change the default settings in the iPhone’s operating system to impede law enforcement efforts to break into the devices, the company said Wednesday. The change will “cut off communication through the USB port when the phone has not been unlocked in the past hour,” Reuters reports. Law enforcement have cracked iPhones by connecting the devices to “cracking” machines via the port. Apple told Reuters the change will protect customer privacy, especially in countries where police or criminals can easily seize the devices.
