TEXT: Numbers 11:21-23
21 And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.
22 Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?
23 And the Lord said unto Moses, Is the Lord’s hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.
Dia-do-chos of Photiki said, “When heavy with over-eating, the body makes the intellect spiritless and sluggish; likewise, when weakened by excessive abstinence, the body makes the contemplative faculty of the soul dejected and disinclined to concentrate. We should therefore regulate our food according to the condition of the body, so that it is appropriately disciplined when in good health and adequately nourished when weak.”
According to The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, “More than half of those affected by obesity (around 50-60 percent) have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). In cases of severe obesity, this figure is around 90 percent. OSA is a very serious breathing disorder. OSA occurs when excess fat in the neck, throat, and tongue block air passageways during sleep. This blockage causes apnea, which means a person stops breathing for a time. A person with OSA may have hundreds of apnea episodes each night. Apnea episodes reduce the amount of oxygen in a person’s blood.”
PRACTICAL STEP: In “The RAVE Diet and Lifestyle,” Mike Anderson continues sharing why he recommends not using any vegetable oils. He writes, “Hydrogenated vegetable oils (trans-fats) are particularly efficient at clogging arteries and depriving your body of oxygen. These oils are found in all kinds of refined foods such as chips, cookies, crackers, cereals, breakfast bars and other baked goods. Every time you eat a bag of cookies it’s no different than biting into a piece of meat.”

There are plenty of anecdotal reports from women whose menstrual periods stopped when they started doing IF, then went back to normal when they stopped doing it. For these reasons, women should definitely be careful with intermittent fasting. Ease into it, and if you have any problems like this then stop doing it immediately. If you have problems with fertility and/or are trying to conceive, then consider holding off on intermittent fasting for now. Intermittent fasting is probably a bad idea when pregnant or breastfeeding.
