COGIC Announces Recipients of First Ever “20 Under 40 Achievers Award,” Celebrates Up-and-Coming Leaders in the Church

Since its initial founding in 1897, and later incorporation in 1907, The Church Of God In Christ (COGIC) has always been at the forefront of producing great leaders; Men and women who value and know the importance of giving back to their communities and service to the church. In celebration of this rich heritage, the International Auxiliaries In Ministries Convention (AIM), under the leadership of Superintendent Linwood Dillard, Chairman, introduced the inaugural “20 UNDER 40 COGIC ACHIEVERS AWARD,” during the 2017 Summer Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This prestigious award was established to highlight twenty (20) talented, educated, and young COGIC men and women between the ages of 25-40 who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in their local communities and church, through academia and their careers. After their initial nominations, the honorees were selected by a special panel of judges based on their leadership merits and significant accomplishments in the areas of law, government/politics, business, education, communications, technology, entertainment and ministry.

Sponsored by the Ministries & Special Initiatives Commission, under the direction of AIM Vice Chairman — Elder Kale L. Mann — the inaugural class of 2017 was formally presented during the Presiding Bishop’s night of the 2017 AIM Convention. “Our Presiding Bishop is a true visionary, with an affinity for the youth and young adults of the church,” according to Mann. “The COGIC Achievers is just one of the platforms created to support Bishop Blake’s ongoing vision to engage, empower and create platforms of opportunity for the next generation.”
