The simple purpose of this podcast is to help you get things done every day so that you can accomplish something worthwhile with your life.
Ephesians 4:28 says: “Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.”
Our quote for today is from Thomas A. Edison. He said: “What you are will show in what you do.”
Today, in the Get Things Done podcast we are looking at Part 10 of Step 9: “Establish An Action Environment.”
Today, we will look at some of the ways you can get privacy in the workplace in order to get things done.
Q: Privacy is a little more difficult to achieve in the workplace than at home. If one works in a busy office, how does one get any seclusion?
A: Well, to take the obvious first, if you happen to have a door on your office, don’t become enamored of the “open-door policy” that you leave it open all the time. By all means, close it when you want to concentrate on a task. And have it understood by others in your workplace that the closed door is a signal that you prefer not to be disturbed by routine interruptions — but that it is not meant to screen out anything urgent. And when you close the door, it sometimes helps to mention to your co-workers what it is you’re going to be working on. If you’ve been procrastinating, or are tempted to, this process of secluding yourself for a specific purpose and announcing that you are doing so builds up psychological pressure to get the job done.
