President Donald Trump condemned two churches bombings in Egypt on Palm Sunday that claimed dozens of lives.
“So sad to hear of the terrorist attack in Egypt. U.S. strongly condemns. I have great… …confidence that President Al Sisi will handle situation properly,” Trump wrote Sunday morning in a set of tweets.
The Islamic State has since claimed responsibility for Sunday attacks, which occurred in Tanta, where at least 26 people were killed and over 70 wounded, and in the city of Alexandria, where at least 11 people were killed and 35 wounded.
Trump met with Egypt’s Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the country’s military ruler, last week, where he threw his support for the leader.
