Could New Jersey Ban Text-Walking?

A New Jersey assemblywoman, Pamela Lampitt, introduced a measure that would ban walking while texting, leading a potential penalty of 15 days in jail or a $50 fine. There is no current plan for enforcement from police officers who likely wouldn’t prioritize stopping people from walking with their phones out. The proposed measure does not have a scheduled hearing at this time.
